A solid choice for a beginner who wants a portable pellet grill for camping, tailgating, or a small patio, but not the right pick if you want a big cooking surface for large gatherings.

Pros

  • Compact and genuinely portable (about 63 lbs) with carry handles and solid, non-flimsy build quality
  • Wide 150-550°F range, hotter than most portable pellet smokers, so it can grill and bake, not just smoke
  • Excellent printed documentation and app-based recipes for a first-time smoker
  • Adjustable heat shield lets you do zone/indirect cooking

Watch-outs

  • Small hopper limits unattended cook time compared to full-size GMG models
  • Not a good searing grill on its own - needs a cast-iron griddle accessory for high-heat work
  • Factory temperature readout can run 10-12°F cooler than actual, so a separate probe is worth using early on
  • WiFi/Bluetooth range and setup can be finicky depending on router placement
