Great foreasy to learnfeeding a crowd

Good for someone who wants both gas convenience and charcoal flavor without buying two grills, but go in expecting a longer assembly and don't count on easy replacement parts down the road.

Pros

  • Genuine dual-fuel flexibility — gas for convenience, charcoal for flavor, in one unit
  • Can be expanded into a full offset smoker with the side firebox attachment
  • Good heat retention and airflow for the price versus separate gas and charcoal grills
  • Loads of cooking room — 1260 sq in feeds a crowd

Watch-outs

  • Assembly is longer and more frustrating than advertised
  • Uneven heat between the charcoal zone near the firebox connection and the area further away
  • Parts availability and customer service are weak points if something breaks after a couple years
  • No side burner for sauces/sides

Known niggles

  • Assembly takes far longer than advertised (~1.5 hours vs. claimed 45 minutes) and instructions are poor, with no instructions at all for the side firebox attachment
  • Charcoal pan doesn't fully cover the grate area front-to-back, wasting some cooking surface
  • Grease can drip between the body panels onto the propane tank on the gas side
  • Porcelain coating on grates has been reported popping off
